After the completion of upgrading activities under the life extension program on 13 November, 2018 at 14:32 the 3-rd turbine generator of the ANPP Unit 2 was started and connected to the RA power system.

Commissioning and testing were performed during modernization and replacement of the electrical equipment of the Armenian NPP Unit 2 electricity generation unit in 2018, specifically:

• unit power transformer testing was performed (T-3 was energized, comprehensive testing and T-3 transformer no-load and short-circuit tests were conducted),
• TG-3 turbine generator inspections and tests were performed (generator no-load and short-circuit tests were conducted),
• inspection and testing of operation of the relay protection, automation, measurement, control, alarm equipment of TG-3 turbine generator and T-3 transformer were performed),
• high-voltage testing of generator current leads was performed,
• testing and adjustment of the turbine generator self-excitation thyristor system were performed.

All the commissioning work and testing of the abovementioned equipment were carried out under control of the executors of the installation supervision and adjustment supervision implemented by the suppliers of the relevant replaced/upgraded equipment («Siloviye Mashiny» PJSC, «Zaporozhtransformator» PJSC, «Turboatom» JSC).

Following synchronization and connection of the generator to the grid the relay protection and automation equipment, generator excitation system, turbine generator set thermal state were checked, the excitation was adjusted at the stages of electric power development  (50%, 75% and 100%).
