COMMAND-STAFF DRILLS AT THE ANPP MILITARIZED GUARDS UNIT

On 21 November according to the military unit combat readiness plan for 2018 command-staff drills were conducted with the personnel of the military unit on the following topic «Fulfillment of functional duties by the officials of the military unit administration at the guarded facility during an emergency situation». The drills were observed by the acting commanding officer of the Police Forces, colonel S. Hakobyan, the deputy commanding officer of the PF, chief of staff, colonel B. Aghajanyan, the deputy commanding officer of the PF on armament and equipment, colonel H. Mkhitaryan, the representatives of the PF command.

According to the assigned task the following alarm was received from the ANPP shift supervisor «Radiation accident with release of radioactive materials into the environment the amount of which exceeds the established limit». In accordance with the received assignment the commanding officer of the military unit, colonel V. Bezhanyan assessed the situation, clarified the task, listened to the suggestions of the chief of staff and the heads of services. All the required documents were prepared. In the tent village the following was established: command post, duty unit, military barrack, arsenal, psychological recovery centre, first-aid post, personnel and equipment partial treatment area where modern personal protection equipment and examples of sanitary treatment equipment were presented to the staff and the procedure of their application was explained.

Colonel B. Aghajanyan attached importance to the cooperation between all the services, to the awareness on the tasks of each other and their reflection in the prepared documents. Special focus was on the issues related to radiation, chemical and biological protection (RCBP) and combat service support. Colonel S. Hakobyan stated that, in such situations, so that the military unit could fulfil its tasks, it was required to have a personnel  showing consciousness towards operational missions, having a stable moral and phsychological condition and quickly and properly orienting themselves in any situation. In general, colonel S. Hakobyan expressed his satisfaction with the conducted staff drills, noting that guarding and protection of the Armenian NPP is a daily task and each day it is required to perform the service with the same responsibility being ready to counteract any encroachments on the facility.
