The Instrumentation and Control Department (I&CD) is one of the structural units of the ANPP main production. The I&C Department ensures the operation, maintenance and repair of the reactor protection system, as well as of the alarm, measurement technical facilities, software-hardware tools, information-computer network devices.

The I&C Department includes, as functional units, the shift personnel that operate the systems, which are in charge of the I&C Department, and the laboratories the functional groups of which perform maintenance and repair of the abovementioned systems.

The main functions of the I&C Department are:

ensuring failsafe and reliable operation of all the systems that are in charge of the department,

ensuring improvement of the work organization methodology taking into account the international experience and standard documentation,

strengthening the labour discipline and improving the working conditions.

All the functional units subordinate to the I&C Department are involved in the activities provided for by the ANPP life extension program with regard to modernization of plant systems, technical facilities and electrical equipment.

The systems and technical facilities in charge of the I&C Department which are subject to modernization are as follows:

• Primary and Secondary Control and Measurement Instrumentation
• Information Computer System
• In-core Technological Monitoring System  
• Electrical Equipment of Automatic Control System 
• Upper Level of the Reactor Protection Actuation System according to the process parameters
• Neutron Flux Measuring Sensors
• Vibration Monitoring Stationary System
• Event Recording System

In the framework of the life extension program the following systems and equipment are to be replaced with new ones.
