CENTRALIZED MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT. PLANT LIFE EXTENSION ACTIVITIES

The Centralized Maintenance Department (CMD) is the largest multifunctional structural unit of the ANPP the main functions of which are:

  1. repair and maintenance of the major and auxiliary equipment of the Reactor, Turbine, Chemical Departments,
  2. reactor refuelling,
  3. operation, repair, maintenance of the ventilation systems, steam-ejection systems, domestic air-conditioners,
  4. operation and repair of the diesel generator station, nitrogen and oxygen station, plant-wide compressor station,
  5. provision of the ANPP with nitrogen and compressed air,
  6. repair and operation of all the lifts, hoisting machines and mechanisms of the ANPP,
  7. performance of welding activities and manufacturing of non-standard parts and articles based on the requests submitted by the main departments,
  8. maintenance, repair and charging of the primary fire-fighting equipment.

All the abovementioned activities performed by the CMD are efficiently coordinated by an engineering group.

Over the last years all the CMD sections were involved in the activities scheduled by the life extension program.

In the framework of the life extension program the CMD has performed the following work:

  1. general overhaul of 5 diesels of the diesel generator station (DGS), thanks to which DGS failsafe operation and higher level of reliability were ensured,
  2. complete replacement of the installation of the nitrogen and oxygen station with a new, modern one, thanks to which the CMD is providing the ANPP with nitrogen of high quality and now with oxygen as well in a quicker, easier way and with less power consumption,
  3. replacement of the pump units of the Reactor, Turbine and Chemical Departments,
  4. replacement of the fixtures (59 assembled studs) of the reactor main joint with new ones,
  5. modernization of the Turbine Department cranes with hoisting capacity of 125 tons which is still under implementation.

The life extension program provides for:

  1. replacement of the installations of the plant-wide compressor station with new ones,
  2. modernization of the machines with lifting capacity of 250 and 30 tons, that are located in the Reactor Department,
  3. replacement of the pump units of the Reactor, Turbine and Chemical Departments,
  4. modernization of the ventilation systems.
