Minister Artur Grigoryan’s Working Visits to the ANPP and his instructions

In May and in June, 2018 the minister of energy infrastructures and natural resources of the RA Artur Grigoryan visited the Armenian NPP.  

During the visits the minister became familiar with the work currently performed at the ANPP, with the results of industrial and economic activity, with the process of preparation for the scheduled preventive maintenance (outage), as well as with the activities aimed at Unit 2 life extension. Artur Grigoryan performed a plant walk-down, he visited the Turbine Department and in the field became familiar with the progress of activities on maintenance and modernization, as well as with further actions.

After the walk-down minister Artur Grigoryan and the general director of the «Haykakan Atomayin Electrakayan» CJSC Movses Vardanyan answered the journalists’ questions.

Working meetings headed by the minister were also conducted at the ANPP with a view to discuss the programs aimed at the NPP safety level improvement, the process of preparation for the outage, as well as the activities provided for by the Program of NPP Unit 2 Life Extension and Modernization. The executive staff and the managers of main departments participated in the meetings.

During the discussions the minister gave a number of instructions, in particular, he called on to be extremely consistent so that the modernization and refitting activities are performed adequately and in accordance with the established schedule.

At the first meeting a number of organizational issues were also discussed and relevant instructions were given.

It is to be recalled that in the framework of the Armenian NPP Unit 2 outage the 4-th turbine generator of the operating unit was shut down on 14 April, 2018, repair and modernization of the turbine generator were performed. On 1 August, 2018 it is scheduled to start the Unit 2 reactor following the outage together with the 4-th turbine generator. The work on modernization of the 3-rd turbine generator will last till 13 November, 2018. The 3-rd turbine generator will also be started and connected to the RA grid. The maximum power of the unit will increase from the current 390 MW to 430 MW without an increase in fuel consumption.
