IAEA ASSISTANCE TO THE ARMENIAN NPP IN THE KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AREA

Within the period of 5-9 June, 2023 in the framework of the Knowledge Management Assist Visit (KMAV) IAEA specialists, as well as other KM experts involved by the agency visited the Armenian NPP.

The visitors were welcomed by Eduard Martirosyan, General Director of the HAEK CJSC. In his speech he expressed gratitude to the International Atomic Energy Agency for the sustainable assistance that is being rendered to the ANPP in different areas of activities.

During the working week Michaela Ovanes, Senior Knowledge Management Expert presented the methodology developed by the IAEA and the way the KMAV programs are designed to help the nuclear organizations to identify critical knowledge holders, to ensure smooth and efficient transfer of knowledge to successors with a view to rule out the loss of extensive knowledge accumulated in the organization over many years of NPP operation. In his turn, Iskren Cvetkov, Head of the Knowledge Management Unit of the Kozloduy NPP explained how the human resource management program and knowledge management were implemented at their plant and noted the importance of establishing an information portal for these processes.

In the course of active discussions with the ANPP specialists the positive impact of the proper knowledge management in terms of plant operation safety and company economic performance improvement was emphasized.

The representatives of the Armenian NPP departments asked their questions, then presented proposals for a more efficient and integrated organization of the knowledge management process at the plant and for its early integration into the plant management system.

At the conclusion of the mission the Armenian side undertook to ensure a more comprehensive implementation of the KM process which will also become possible thanks to an active and continuous assistance of the IAEA.
