A WORKING VISIT AT THE ARMENIAN NPP

On 30 March, 2021 the "Rusatom Service" JSC senior managers headed by Evgeny Salkov, Director General paid a regular working visit to the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant. The meeting was also attended by senior managers of the RA Committee for Nuclear Safety Regulation and the “Armatom SRI” CJSC.

The agenda was rather heavy: a discussion of future projects in the framework of the ANPP Unit 2 life extension, as well as an analysis of further actions related to performance of activities aimed at modernization of the systems and equipment of the operating unit during outage-2021. Besides the activities on reactor vessel metal annealing, that will be critical during the unit long shutdown in 2021, it is also planned to perform activities for modernization of the emergency core cooling system, spray system components, uninterruptible power system and a number of other systems and equipment. Most of the required equipment has already been supplied, the main scope of the supplies is to be completed within the period of May-June. The management of the Armenian NPP is, as always, consistent in ensuring that the activities are performed by contractors having extensive work experience and professional skills in this area.

2021 will be a decisive year for the ANPP: probably, the most difficult stage of modernization and re-equipment activities will be performed. Following its successful completion the ANPP will get a permit (license) of the RA Committee for Nuclear Safety Regulation to extend the plant lifetime for another 10 years. Moreover, based on the experience of similar Russian plants, activities are already being performed at the ANPP for the plant life re-extension.

One thing is certain: the safe operation of the plant has always been a priority for all of us.
