Representatives of the Internal Oversight Service of the International Atomic Energy Agency Visited the ANPP

On 29 October, 2019 the representatives of the Internal Oversight Service of the International Atomic Energy Agency visited the Armenian NPP with a view to assess the technical cooperation projects in the area of NPP long-term operation (LTO) implemented within the period of 2012-2018. The IAEA assessment mission team also includes experts from Great Britain and Germany. The specialists of the RA Committee for Nuclear Safety Regulation are also involved in the activities.

A meeting with the ANPP management was held.

The visitors became familiar with the modernization activities implemented under the ANPP Unit 2 life extension program, as well as with the process of implementation of the programs aimed at safety enhancement.

M. Vardanyan, the HAEK CJSC General Director expressed his gratitude and noted that they highly appreciated the support rendered by the IAEA to the ANPP over many years in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy. He attached importance to the cooperation with Armenia and stated that the support in the area of nuclear power safety improvement in Armenia was extremely important.  

It was agreed to continue and deepen the bilateral efficient cooperation in future as well.
