Ceremony for the Unveiling of Eduard Sahakov Memorial Bas-Relief
On September 5, 2025, a special event was held at the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant to celebrate the 80th birthday of Eduard Sahakov, a distinguished energy specialist and former chief engineer of the ANPP, who left an indelible mark on the plant's history.
The event was attended by heads of leading organizations in the field from Armenia and honored guests. The delegation from the Russian Federation was led by Andrey Petrov, First Deputy Director General on Nuclear Energy at Rosatom State Corporation. Also in attendance were Alexander Shutikov, Director General of Rosenergoatom Concern, Yuri Markov, Director General of Atomtekhenergo JSC, and representatives from other organizations in the field.
The guests met with the plant's management, took a technical tour of MCR and then attended the solemn unveiling of a bas-relief dedicated to Eduard Sahakov, which was installed on the territory of the Armenian NPP in his honor. The event was also attended by Eduard Sahakov's relatives and former colleagues.
The bas-relief became a symbol of a great man's memory, his strength of spirit, high sense of responsibility, and boundless dedication to his work.
Eduard Sahakov, through his life and work, embodied spirit of dedication to his profession, unwavering diligence, patriotism and human kindness, serving as a true source of inspiration for everyone. His name will forever remain in the history of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, and his legacy will continue to inspire new generations on the path of professional loyalty, responsibility, and high achievements.
During the solemn ceremony speeches were given by Eduard Martirosyan, Director General of the HAEK CJSC, Vahram Petrosyan, Director General of the Armatom RI CJSC, Yuri Markov, Director General of the Atomtekhenergo JSC, Andrey Petrov, Aleksandr Shutikov, and other esteemed guests.
After the solemn unveiling of the bas-relief, they laid flowers at the tomb of the esteemed energy specialist Eduard Sahakov, expressing their deep respect and devotion to his memory.
Glory to Eduard Sahakov! His invaluable contribution to the development of atomic energy, his wisdom, and his humanity are immortal. The Armenian Nuclear Power Plant deeply respects the memory of the great teacher and continues to honorably carry on and pass his legacy to the future.
