THE EMPLOYEES OF THE ARMENIAN NPP PARTICIPATED IN THE 2-ND INTERNATIOMAL FORUM OF THE WANO MC YOUNG GENERATION MOVEMENT

In December, 2020 the Moscow Centre of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO MC) had organized the Second WANO MC YGM International Forum entitled «Young Generation Movement. Today, tomorrow and forever». The event was held in a videoconference format with participation of more than 80 representatives of nuclear power plants and other industry organizations from Armenia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Russia, China, Ukraine, Slovakia and Finland. At the forum the Armenian NPP was represented by S. Kenjetsyan, WANO MC representative, A. Sargsyan, Leading Engineer of the Quality Assurance Department and M. Hakobyan, Procurement Specialist.

In the framework of the forum the following activities were conducted:

  • training on «Leadership in nuclear power industry»,
  • presentation and discussion of the «Change Management» and «Best Practices of the Young Generation» topics,
  • delivering presentations related to the Young Generation Movement performance.

The real culmination of the event was the presentation of Professor T. Melnitskaya at the fourth section of the Forum ‘COVID as a joke and seriously’. So called ‘distress filters’ prepared by the Forum participants were analyzed in detail. These were peculiar mini-research works on a very important and exciting topic: how to protect ourselves from the destructive effect of stress nowadays, and at the same time to reveal our potential for personal development.

Summarizing the results Sergey Sherpaev, President of the WANO MC YGM outlined the progress in development of the WANO MC Young Generation Movement.

«Now the Young Generation Movement includes more than 200 participants. The restrictions caused by the pandemic became a challenge for our organization postponing a lot of plans for an indefinite period. However, the participants used the «proposed» circumstances to conceive their performance in a new way, they improved their skills and experience and directed them towards the internal processes. Thus they participated in self-assessments and walkdowns, staff trainings, and also studied foreign languages and standards. Some of them even had a promotion at work. And as known, one of the main objectives of the WANO Young Generation Movement is to improve the performance indicators of the NPPs»:
