AN EMERGENCY RESPONSE EXERCISE WAS CONDUCTED AT THE ANPP

In order to improve the emergency response skills of the personnel, an emergency response exercise was conducted on November 26, 2021 at the ANPP jointly with the WANO MC Regional Crisis Center and the Rescue Service of the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations. In this connection, the ANPP Crisis Centre was attended by Andranik Piloyan, Minister of Emergency Situations, and representatives of the Rescue Service of the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as Hakob Vardanyan, Deputy Minister of the RA Territorial Administration and Infrastructures. 
The exercise involved units of the plant’s emergency response system, representatives of operating personnel who were not involved in the work of the shift personnel, personnel of some ANPP departments, as well as the special fire brigade for the ANPP protection. The exercise was led by Artur Grigoryan, the ANPP Chief Engineer.
The "HAEK" CJSC emergency response system has been activated and the internal emergency plan of the "HAEK" CJSC has been put into effect. During the exercise, for the first time, a notification was carried out with the recently installed notification system for the 5 km-long protective- preventive action zone. All localities in the zone were notified.
 The following training scenario activities were carried out: assessment of the situation and classification of the accident, then after the "local accident" notification, protective measures were implemented for the personnel of the departments participating in the exercise, (sheltering, use of personal protective equipment, iodine prophylaxis and evacuation). Radiation monitoring and firefighting activities were implemented. In accordance with the established procedure, information and completed forms were submitted to the Emergency Response Centres of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia and the Nuclear Safety Regulation Committee, as well as to the WANO MC Regional Crisis Centre. 
Following the completion of the exercise, analysis of the exercise was performed. Based on the results of the exercise analysis, measures will be developed to eliminate the identified shortcomings.
