This year on December 6-9, in Moscow, RF, the delegation headed by Eduard Martirosyan, Acting General Director of the HAEK CJSC took part in working meetings with representatives of the TVEL Fuel Company.
A contract for Russian nuclear fuel supply in 2021 was concluded between the Haykakan Atomayin Electrakayan CJSC (Armenian NPP) and TVEL Fuel Company which would allow complete covering of the Armenian NPP needs in fresh nuclear fuel.
The only operating unit of the Armenian NPP with 407, 5 MW installed power is provided with non-vibrating fuel for WWER-440 manufactured by Mechanical Engineering Plant (“MSZ” public company, TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom, Electrostal c.).
Traditionally the Armenian NPP is one of the main power sources in the country. In spite of technical constraints related to the activities on the Unit life extension the plant annually generates up to 40% of electricity of Armenia. For the first three quarters of 2020 the Armenian NPP generated 1, 8905 bln. kWh of electric power.
“Longstanding relationship between the Armenian NPP and TVEL Fuel Company is of a strategic nature. We are securely providing the nuclear power plant with high quality and high performance nuclear fuel, to the fullest extent possible meeting the Customer’s views. Based on these principles we are ready to further provide the ANPP with Russian nuclear fuel till the end of that Unit life”, - stated Natalya Nikipelova, The President of the TVEL Fuel Company.
Currently modernization activities are being implemented at the Armenian NPP. The key contractor for the project implementation is Rusatom Service JSC, the Rosatom State Corporation enterprise. The project implementation will result in the plant operation efficiency and safety upgrading.
