The panel discussion on “Prospects for Nuclear Industry Development in Armenia” held in Yerevan was attended by representatives of the “Armatom” SRI CJSC, “Rosatom” State Corporation, RA Ministry of TAI, Armenian Nuclear Power Plant and a number of authorities in the energy sector, as well as representatives of the Science and Culture Centres in Yerevan and Gyumri. 

The event, which was already conducted for the third time, was devoted to the 55^th anniversary of the nuclear industry of Armenia. The objective of the meeting was to hold an expert discussion of the nuclear energy role in the framework of the strategic program for development of power industry of Armenia till 2040.  

A.Grigoryan, ANPP Chief Engineer in his speech touched upon the issues related to the activities performed in 2020 and current activities aimed at the Armenian NPP Unit 2 modernization, the 141-day shutdown for outage-2021 and the reactor vessel metal annealing activities to be performed during the outage.  

M.Vardanyan, First Deputy General Director of the “HAEK” CJSC-Director of the Armenian NPP presented the work that was being performed for the plant life re-extension which would be based on the experience in life extension of the similar Russian NPPs. The Armenian NPP Unit 2 life extension will be a guarantee of energy security and socio-economic stability.

The events devoted to the 55^th anniversary of the nuclear industry of Armenia and the meetings of those responsible for the industry will be held on a continuous basis.
