Participation of the Armenian Delegation in the 68th Session of the IAEA General Conference
The 69th session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was held from September 15 to 18, 2025, in the Austrian capital of Vienna. The General Conference is one of the most important annual events in the field of nuclear energy and safety, bringing together representatives of member states to discuss global challenges, innovative solutions and prospects for international cooperation.
The delegation of the Republic of Armenia was led by Andranik Hovhannisyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the RA to the Republics of Austria and Slovakia, The delegation also included Vahe Grigoryan, Deputy Head of ANRA, Eduard Martirosyan, General Director of “HAEK”CJSC, Movses Vardanyan, ANPP Director, Vahram Petrosyan, Director of “Hayatom” Scientific Research Institute and Arsen Mikayelyan, Advisor to the Permanent Mission of the RA.
The representatives of the ANPP presenteted Armenia’s strategic priorities aimed at extending the operational life of the existing nuclear power plant, building new power units and maintaining the highest safety standards. The projects, being implemented jointly with the IAEA and planned for the coming years were also discussed, including expert missions and seismic assessment initiatives.
During the session, the Armenian delegation participated in a series of bilateral meetings, where the importance of deepening international cooperation, exchanging experience, and strengthening regional nuclear security was emphasized.
Armenia's presence at the General Conference once again underscored the country's commitment to the peaceful and secure use of nuclear energy, ensuring energy independence and sustainable development. The Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, as a key component of Armenia's energy system, continues to serve as a reliable partner and an important platform for international cooperation.
