The Visit of the RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures to the Armenian NPP

Today the RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures visited the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP).  He became familiar with the results of the activities performed within the frames of outage-2019, work currently performed at the ANPP, with the results of industrial and economic activity, as well as with the activities aimed at Unit 2 life extension.

Accompanied by the Deputy Minister Hakob Vardanyan and Governor of Armavir Marz Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister Suren Papikyan performed a plant walk-down, he visited the Turbine Department and in the field became familiar with the progress of activities on maintenance and modernization, as well as with further actions.

A working meeting headed by the Minister was conducted at the ANPP with participation of the ANPP management staff, heads of main departments and employees, which was focused on programs aimed at the plant safety enhancement, as well as on activities envisaged by the Program of the ANPP Unit 2 Life Extension and Modernization. «Increasing the level of interest in this field among the youth, as well as involving new specialists  will be conditioned upon the envisaged activities and achievements in the nearest future»,- pointed out the Minister. In this regard the Minister commended the contribution to ensuring sustainability and safety of the RA energy system by the employees who have got profound professional knowledge, practical skills and have accumulated long-term experience.

Also organizational issues were raised, in regard to which relevant instructions were provided. During the discussions the  minister gave a number of instructions, in particular, he called on to be consistent so that the modernization and refitting activities are performed adequately and in accordance with the established schedule.

It is to be recalled that following the completion the outage activities the 3-rd and 4-th turbine generators of the ANPP Unit 2 were connected to the RA grid. The turbine generators’ starts were implemented in accordance with all the technical requirements. At this moment, the ANPP provides the RA energy system with 385-390  MW electricity.
