DEPUTY MINISTER OF THE RA TAI HAKOB VARDANYAN VISITS THE ANPP
On March 18, 2024, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure (TAI) Hakob Vardanyan paid a working visit to the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant. The purpose of the meeting was to get familiarized on-site with the on-going maintenance activities, as well as the scheduled ones and the current projects.
At the beginning, during a meeting with the management of the ANPP, a number of issues relevant to the plant were discussed; appropriate instructions were given, especially with regard to the scheduled activities.
After the meeting, H. Vardanyan, accompanied by the management of the plant, first visited cooling towers No. 1 and No. 3 to review the completed and ongoing modernization activities on site. In order to increase the efficiency of electricity production, cooling tower No. 1 which underwent a major overhaul, is being operated, and activities are currently underway on the overhaul of cooling tower No. 3, the completion of which is scheduled for May this year.
Then, H. Vardanyan visited the construction site of open switchyard-110/220kV. The contracting company has already delivered some batches of equipment, and activities are being carried out in accordance with the schedule envisaged. It should be noted that the project is being implemented with funding allocated by the Government of the Republic of Armenia to improve the reliability of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant and ensure the continuous operation of Unit 2 during the extended period of operation. The new 110/220 kV switchyard is planned to be put into operation in 2025.
Summing up the visit, H. Vardanyan once again stressed the importance of a timely and high-quality implementation of the planned activities and projects.
