Details on the 63rd Session of the IAEA General Conference

The RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Souren Papikyan delivered a speech: “As a country with an acting NPP, Armenia has chosen an open and transparent policy of safe and peaceful use of nuclear energy and will further pursue enhancing and undertaking relevant measures aimed at improving and maintaining nuclear and radiation safety. We highly value the role of the IAEA and the assistance that the Agency has been continuously providing to Armenia in the process of fulfilling our obligation to ensure the Armenian NPP safety criteria”.

Within the frames of the 63rd Session of the IAEA General Conference a pavilion of Armenia was opened as well. The program developments of “Hayatom” scientific-research institute aimed at improving the security of nuclear power plants were presented at the pavilion.

Minister Papikyan had a brief talk with Director General of “Rosatom” RF State Corporation  Aleksey Likhachyov, and based on the agreement reached, Likhachyov will visit Armenia late in September to discuss on the spot the progress of activities on the ANPP lifetime extension and to predetermine the areas of cooperation with “Rosatom” Corporation for the coming years.
