In Abu Dhabi in the framework of the activities of the 24th World Energy Congress the minister was presented with the developments in the field of small modular reactors, taking into account the prospects of their application in Armenia.

Suren Papikyan attends the 24th World Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi

RA Minister of  Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Suren Papikyan  participated in the 24th World Energy Congress in Abu Dhabi, which is  held from September 9 to 12, 2019 under the patronage of the UAE  President Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

According to the press service of the department, on September 9,  Minister Papikyan met with the Chairman of the World Energy Congress  Young Kim David Kim, with whom they discussed further areas of  cooperation between the Organization and the National Committee of  Armenia. Papikyan invited Young Kim David Kim to Armenia to get  acquainted with the country's energy capabilities on the spot.

Together with the Ambassador of Armenia to the UAE, Mher Mkrtumyan,  Minister Papikyan walked through the pavilions of the Congress expo  exhibition and got acquainted with the progress of technologies in  the nuclear field. In particular, the Minister was presented with the  development in the field of small modular reactors, taking into  account the prospects of their application in Armenia.  To note, the  24th World Energy Congress is aimed at bringing together  international stakeholders in the field of energy, including  governments, private and public corporations, academia and media  representatives. It is expected that the event will be attended by  more than 15,000 participants, more than 250 senior speakers, 72  ministers, 500 general directors, 1,000 media representatives; the  exhibition area will be 40,000 square meters and will cover the  entire energy spectrum. The World Energy Congress is the main global  event of the World Energy Council, offering a unique platform for  world energy leaders to explore new energy prospects, critical areas  of innovation and new strategies. The World Energy Congress is being  held in the Middle East for the first time since the creation of the  World Energy Council over 90 years ago. An influential energy event  covers all aspects of the global energy agenda.
