During the workshop the experts provided information on the IAEA safety standards for equipment qualification, made presentations on ageing management approaches and methods related to the NPP electrical and I&C equipment with a focus on equipment qualification (Ageing management of the NPP electrical systems and components and I&C equipment).

The presentations provided the experience of the NPPs of Slovakia and Sweden in the following areas:

• environmental qualification inside and outside the containment during normal operation and emergency conditions;
• methods of preserving qualification of electrical components, control systems, mechanical equipment, as well as practical aspects of these methods;
• use of a cable deposit to preserve the equipment qualification;
• environmental monitoring as a part of EQ preservation;
• practical implementation of the EQ preservation methods at individual NPPs;
• thermal and radiation ageing. Impact on the service life;
• program of hot spots.
