As per “HAEK CJSC” request, within March 3-5, 2020, the Armenian NPP will be hosting the WANO Moscow Center Support Mission (SP) under the title «Implementation of activities by the Armenian NPP aimed at organizing the satellite communication channel between the Armenian NPP and WANO MC».

The necessity for ensuring a continuous preparedness of the data transmission channels between the Armenian NPP and the WANO-MC Regional Crisis Centre (RCC), as well as organizing the data transmission in an on-line mode, arose following the signing in 2013 of a bilateral agreement on cooperation between the Armenian NPP and WANO-MC on establishing a Regional Crisis Center and the Armenian NPP Level 3 participation in compliance with the "WANO-MC Regulations on Regional Crisis Center for NPP-s with VVER Reactors". Currently, performing the above-mentioned commitments is not fully possible due to unavailability of the satellite communication channel between the Armenian NPP and the RCC.

The SM objectives are:

1. Relevance check of an earlier developed design documentation for VSAT-segment of the communication system of dispatch control technological network of the Armenian NPP.
2. Assessment of technical feasibility of establishing a VSAT-segment of the subscriber ground terminal of satellite communication on the site of the Armenian NPP Emergency Crisis Center designed.
3. Preparation of proposals on organizing a satellite communication channel between the Armenian NPP and the WANO-MC RCC with respect to the existing construction design of the satellite communication subscriber terminal and the Armenian NPP Emergency Crisis Center construction plans.

The following experts will participate in the SM:

Igor Plaksin - (Chief Specialist of Emergency Preparedness and Radiation Protection Department,“Rosenergoatom Concern” JSC);

Ivan Smolentsev - (Director of the Sales Department,“Reis Communication” LLC);

Sergey Kravets - (Leading Engineer of “Reis Communication” LLC);

Maksim Shkrebtan - (WANO-MC Advisor).

During the mission based on the reports provided and the subsequent joint discussion with the SM participants a joint decision on procedure and dates of organizing satellite communication channel should be developed with respect to the Armenian NPP Emergency Crisis Center construction plans.
