The WANO MC Peer Review Follow-up Mission was Completed at the ANPP

Today, on 13 December, 2019 the team consisting of 8 experts from the WANO MC completed the peer review follow-up at the Armenian NPP.

During the mission the experts reviewed the current status and the progress in the areas for improvement by assessing the effectiveness of the implemented corrective actions and WANO support missions conducted at the Armenian NPP over the period of 2017-2019.

Today, on 9 December, 2019 the experts of the WANO MC Peer Review Follow-up visited the Armenian NPP.

In accordance with the WANO MC work plan for 2019 within the period of 9-13 December, 2019 a WANO peer review follow-up (PRF) will be conducted at the Armenian NPP.

The peer review follow-up is conducted 2 years after the comprehensive peer review held at the Armenian NPP in 2017 during which the WANO experts identified strengths and areas for improvement of the plant performance. Based on the results of the review, corrective action plans were prepared. The corrective actions are currently at different stages of implementation.

During the peer review follow-up the WANO MC experts will review the current status and the progress in the areas for improvement by assessing the effectiveness of the implemented corrective actions and WANO support missions conducted at the Armenian NPP over the period of 2017-2019.

The review will be focused on the following production areas:

  • Nuclear professionals;
  • Operation;
  • Maintenance and Repair;
  • Chemistry;
  • Engineering Support;
  • Radiation Protection;
  • Organization Effectiveness;
  • Fire Protection;
  • Emergency Preparedness.

The WANO MC expert team will consist of 8 people, most of whom participated in the peer review in 2017, as well as a WANO MC adviser who will evaluate the effectiveness of the support missions on leadership and radiation safety which were held at the Armenian NPP.
